O.K., a new flying season is almost here! The Kingston Schneider flying event will be here shortly. Just wondering what we might expect to see this year.
I'm planning to have my Macch M-33 ready and flying. Who else?

My Curtiss wings still need to be rebuilt and my floats still leak. i think it might stay home this year.
On an up note, my Sailaire is now "the phoenix"--rising from the inept piloting accident of '04. Just needs covering.

I know it's in pretty rough shape right now, and time is running out for Kingston this year, but I'm still sorry to hear that.
It may not be as bad as you think. I would welcome the opportunity to assess the situation and help do whatever repairs/modifications are necessary. Really, for the most part, the plane is still ready to go and I feel it could be brought back to flying status without too much effort and time.

I am interested in building an electric powered Schneider Trophy Racer. Prefereably one of the Supermarine entries. Does anyone know if a kit is available, or will I have to scratch build? If so, where is a good source for plans?

The Curtiss R3C-2 racer is available as a short kit from GDH Consulting [http://www.gdhconsulting.ca/] for $199. See other threads in this section for an EMFSO member's experiences with the model.... or maybe Ben will chime in here himself.

Ben,
I would like to see your plane fly for this event.
If you need some parts, I will cut them at cost for you. In addition, I would be happy to view the plane to see if there are any design problems from the changes you made. I did see one problem from the photo's you sent relating to the float angles, which will make breaking from the water harder. At the event last year, the water was very flat, and this would have exenterated this issue.

Wow, thanks for the offer Glen. I haven't really taken a close look at what needs to be done yet--the wings definitely need new trailing edges before I can address the float issues. It'd be great to get some of your time to look over the plane to fix the problems you noticed. Are you ever in the Toronto area? Planning on attending any of the fun-flys? I could bring the Curtiss for a check up.

Ben,
I am in Toronto on occasion and I do attend many fun-flys. I am sure we can sort something out; maybe one of the next times I am in town.

I'd hoped to test fly my MC 72this weekend but the ailerons were soggy, and had to be ripped out I'm pretty sure I can get it done this week, but it'll be tight. (Why can I not plan ahead??!!)

Glad to hear you're close, Martin. I hope you can get it together for Saturday.
I was going to test fly my M-33 tonight but ran out of daylight. I have a vibration problem with the big spinner that I need to solve, but otherwise evrything is there.....in basic form. I hope to paint it tomorrow, and since I'm not using my airbrush I expect everything to go well

Unfortunately, there was nothing new this year. We're off to a very slow start but we've made a vow to do better next year.
There was no float flying at all this year at Kingston as the water was pouring out of the sky. Sometime horizontally.
